Attachment-Based, Trauma-Informed Counseling for Ministry Leaders & Care Teams in Upstate South Carolina
The FoundationWhat is Pastoral Support & Soul Care?
Pastoral Support & Soul Care is attachment-based, trauma-informed counseling created for those who shepherd others.
Ministry leadership often requires holding grief, conflict, crisis, and responsibility without always having a space to lay those burdens down. Over time, this weight can quietly lead to exhaustion, relational strain, and burnout.
This counseling offers a confidential, steady place where pastors and ministry leaders can reflect on the impact of ministry on their nervous system, relationships, and personal story. Through attachment-informed reflection and trauma-aware care, leaders are supported in restoring clarity, resilience, and alignment within themselves. The heart of this work is sustainability. When caregivers are emotionally supported and grounded in the love of God, they are far more equipped to lead with steadiness, wisdom, and endurance over the long term.
Common ExperiencesWhy Attachment-Based, Trauma-Informed Counseling Matters in Ministry
Church leaders are often:
• Holding others’ trauma while quietly setting aside their own needs
• Navigating conflict within complex relational systems
• Carrying compassion fatigue and spiritual weariness
• Leading under chronic stress without fully recognizing its impact on their bodies and nervous systems
Attachment-based counseling helps leaders understand relational dynamics within teams and congregations, increasing clarity and emotional safety in leadership. Trauma-informed counseling honors how ongoing stress, conflict, grief, and crisis can shape the body and nervous system over time. It provides tools for restoring steadiness rather than operating from depletion.
When leaders are supported, churches grow in health, unity, and long-term stability.
This work is not about diagnosing or pathologizing ministry leaders. It is about strengthening resilience, restoring alignment, and sustaining those who have been called to shepherd others in the love of God.

The Heart of Soul CAreMy Approach
My work is rooted in historic Christian formation and clinically grounded attachment-based, trauma-informed counseling.
I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health through the Townsend Institute under Dr. John Townsend, whose work integrates Christian theology with research-based relational and emotional health. His framework emphasizes boundaries, relational repair, leadership development, and emotional maturity within a distinctly Christian worldview.
In addition, I completed intensive training in Narrative Focused Trauma Care through The Allender Center under Dr. Dan Allender. This multi-session, in-depth formation explored trauma, abuse, attachment patterns, shame dynamics, sexual development, identity formation, and calling within the framework of God’s redemptive story. The training emphasized both individual and group story engagement, equipping me to walk with leaders as they integrate their personal history, relational patterns, and sense of calling with wisdom and theological depth.
At the foundation of this approach is a simple truth. God is the Creator of attachment. He designed human beings for connection, first with Himself and then with one another. Healthy attachment is not a modern psychological trend. It reflects the relational nature of our Creator. When attachment is disrupted through stress, betrayal, conflict, or trauma, the impact is not only spiritual but relational and physiological. The nervous system carries the imprint of what the heart has endured. Chronic ministry stress, exposure to crisis, and unresolved conflict can quietly shape how leaders relate, respond, and sustain their calling.
Attachment-based, trauma-informed counseling recognizes that spiritual maturity and emotional health are deeply connected. God’s redemptive work reaches into hearts and bodies alike. Healing is not merely behavioral or cognitive. It is relational, embodied, and restorative.
My approach offers a steady, confidential space to explore these patterns with discernment and reverence for God’s ongoing work in your life. Together, we attend to both the burdens and the calling, trusting that restoration strengthens endurance and sustains faithful leadership over time.
This is counseling that honors Scripture, respects pastoral leadership, and supports those who desire to remain grounded, resilient, and aligned in the work God has entrusted to them.
